The hard part was choosing the size. According to the sizing chart my daughter was all over the place, but we choose the size that seemed to work best for her from other gowns she had actually tried on. Was this rating helpful to you? But just so everyone knows, this dress isn't the color in the picture and the was squished in the box so when I got the dress, the bottom was kinda wrinkly. But it the good overweighs those facts. But if you already kno what size you normally wear in formal gowns go by that size! and the size of your hips dont really matter in this dress. I went to a boutique to try some others on, and showed them this one online. It's by Mori Lee, who happens to be one of their designers, so they were able to order it for me. :) I'm glad I did it that way, the dress needs to be hemmed and some of the beads need to be reinforced. But the only thing wrong with it was that the color was a little different from the one shown in the picture.
